| Been a Long Time |
|
Sorry that it has been so long since the last update. Things have been rather busy and I haven't had much of a chance to play UO or update the webpages. It seems that OSI's new approach to roleplaying in UO is to have an automated script system. This really upsets me, because it basically means that there will be no more unique fiction to any of the shards :(.
One new result of this fiction will be what are called barkeepers. Anyway I have written a proposal that will hopefully make these barkeepers much more useful.
Here is a picture of my proposed user-interface:

| Jan. 24, 2000 - "Hey! Where have you been?" |
|
I know, I know. That is what everyone is probably saying. I am still around, just haven't had a chance to update the webpages in a while. I have been busy in game and out of game. Slowly the community is returning to normal. There are now events scheduled for almost everyday of the week. While this is great news, it would be wonderful if we could have multiple events every night!
Anyway, what have I been up to? Besides being busy with education. I have been helping out over at Stratics and I have been enjoying UO. Recently, OSI made another mistake (big surprise!) so that many people received multiple "Veteran Rewards." At least they are taking responsibility for their mistake. A lot of new changes have been going into the game, I only wish some of that energy was being directed toward the roleplaying community. |
| Dec. 31, 2000 - Two Reasons To Worry About UO:3D |
Just two pictures I found recently on the UO webpages. Can you spot what's wrong here??
The first comes from the MyUO webpages -- The real error as to why OSI's mathematics can't figure out Gold Duping!
As for the second picture -- Next time I see the server goes down, I can bet you I know where the overflow is. I truly do worry about OSI sometimes. I hope that careless errors like these don't lead to the same problems with the original UO. It took two years to figure out all those bugs; how many for UO:3D?? If I don't update again, Happy New Year everyone. btw, as we speak Emperor Krosis is working on his State of the Imperium Address. |
| Dec. 16, 2000 - The Most Recent News |
|
I have two major pieces of information. First of all, I have taken over the Sonoma Quest News icq and so if you would like to recieve information regarding events on Sonoma add #100989470.
Secondly, I have once again taken up the search for a tower; however, I refuse to pay the market price of 6-7 million gp. Therefore, I think my only option is to look for an open spot. This is very difficult and time consuming. Well, if I don't talk to you again, Happy Holidays! Speaking of which, I will have to add my holiday poem to the website soon -- "'Twas the Knight Before British." |
| Dec. 9, 2000 - Tournament a Smashing Success! | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The Tournament held tonight was a very huge success. We had participants from a very wide range, all of which appeared to have a good time. The only disruption came from a single person; however, it was only minor. Participants shot ten arrows at the archery buttes and, based on their performance, recieved a score. The four highest scores were then able to compete in a second round, in which the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners were determined from that round's scores. I would like to thank the participants, as well as those who simply came to enjoy the event. The third- place, yellow sash went to Blair. The second-place, red sash went to Berleau. The first-place blue sash and 50k grand prize went to Homer J. Simson for his outstanding performance. Below are the scores for each participant:
In other news, I am thinking of beginning a more long-term colonization of the new lands. This would be a long and arduous process, and would require the help of many. This is still in the early planning stages. I have not yet begun work on the faction pages, but hope to by the middle of this week. |
| Dec. 7, 2000 - Archery Tournament Sat. Dec. 9 |
|
A Challenge to All who Wield a Bow
Hear ye! Hear ye! His kind Emperor Krosis calls all archers of the realm to come forth. Ready your quivers, string your bows, and prepare to face the fierce competition of the best in the land.
Once Again:
Participants need only bring their bow. |
| Dec. 4, 2000 - Soon to Come |
| True Britannians now control all Britannia! That's right, this weekend they took all of the cities in the faction was. I am beginning to work on a faction section to add to the website. I intend to have information on the faction system and include everything in an easy to read, compact format. This should greatly assist those who have to keep looking through the specs to find the information they want. |
| Nov. 23, 2000 - Happy Thanksgiving |
|
I wanted to wish you all a happy Thanksgiving. Be sure not to eat too much!. Currently, I am experimenting with the faction system. Initially this system could use some rebalancing; however, it is quite enjoyable. The four factions are the Council of Mages, the True Britannians, Minax, and the Shadowlords. The Council of Mages has taken a decisive lead already.
I shall be adding info on the factions as time progresses. |
| Nov. 5, 2000 - Some of the latest news |
|
I am continuing to work on the newest game for the website; unfortunately, I haven't had to opportunity to work on it as much I would have liked to. As for an e.t.a. I would say within the next two or three weeks.
As far as UO news goes, I have been attending the weekly hunts that take place every other Thursday. The next one is scheduled for Nov. 9th. Last week, the hunt was for the golden spider queen. Hephaestus ended up killing the queen and captured her venemous stinger. This was then turned in for the 10k gold reward. Overall, the event was very enjoyable. In hindsite, I should have taken a screenshot. |
| Oct. 17, 2000 - Schedule for this week |
|
Today, I hope to get another picture of the week up. Additionally, I hope to begin work on a third game for the website. I am still in the planning stages for this game so I am unsure as to what it will involve.
Wednesday, I will be beginning a long term recruitment campaign. The goal being to rebuild the guild into a truly formiddable/respectable/high-quality group. There are numerous advantages to having a large guild. First, there will always be people to interact with. Second, events will be larger and more complex. Third, we can take a much more central role in a lot of the fiction. The disadvantages of a large guild come from communication and low-quality, I have some ideas on how to avoid this. Thursday, I will be continuing my recruiting campaign and preparing to sponsor an event this weekend -- I have a couple ideas for the event, but I am not sure what I will chose. I don't have any set plans after this but I will be continuing on my quest to improve the guild. |
| Oct. 15, 2000 - Weekly Games?? |
| This week's game is part of a faire theme in the land of Britannia. It is called Lord British Whomp'um. The object is, of course, to hit Lord British's effigy over the head with the mallet. Hit him 20 times in the fastest amount of time and you'll have a chance to get your name on the board of winners. Once again enjoy!! |
| Oct. 14, 2000 - Surprise but not the one below! |
|
I have added a great new item to the website. It is a game that is called Test Thy Virtue. It gives you a series of questions and by answering the questions it determines which virtue is your strongest. In order to use the program you need to have javascript enabled.
Have fun!!! |
| Oct. 3, 2000 - Surprise in the Works |
|
Sorry I haven't been updating the website as frequently as I should. I have a surprise in the works for the website. I hope that it will be a great addition. Also, I hope to get another picture of the week up soon.
I am very excited about this new addition, but for now my lips are sealed. |
| Sep. 18, 2000 - Back from Vacation, Again. |
|
I am back from vacation once again. Not much is new in the world of Ultima...except they added a new dungeon! I haven't had a chance to visit the dungeon yet; however, it looks to be full of surprises. In fact I hope to sponsor a dungeon crawl soon so that a large group might try to depths of the dungeon. More info in the next few days.
I haven't gotten the screenshot for this week yet, but I hope to get on in the next few days. |
| Sep. 7, 2000 - Screenshot of the Week! |
Here is a new thing that I've decided to start. It is called the TKI Screenshot of the Week. I will attempt to capture an interesting
screenshot every week to display on the website. This picture was the result of a bit too much free time. The location is, of course, Skara Brae Bank. As you can see the three letters are TKI (the guild initials). Hopefully this will be a continued tradition on The Krosis Imperium Website. Another tidbit of information for everyone. The website can be reached via two different web addresses. The old one is: http://www.reocities.com/TimesSquare/Fortress/3456/ and the new one is http://www.reocities.com/krosis3456/. Obviously the second one should be much easier to write from now on. |
| Sep. 3, 2000 - Important Info for House Owners/Co-Owners |
|
Today a patched was published to all shards that will change the way that lockdowns and secure containers work. A result of this change is that
only the co-owner who locked something down can unlock it (the owner can also). This could affect some people if the house owner is no longer playing UO.
In related news, it appears that the recent house looting bug is not fixed. If the original one has been fixed, then there are still rumors of yet another looting bug. Beware and keep all valuables in a safe spot. |
| Aug. 30, 2000 - Some new stuff. |
|
The housing page has been updated with the castle and keep pictures. It is now complete.
I still have been unable to locate a place for a large tower in Felucca. Also today, OSI announced their new factions proposal. It looks like it will be a fascinating addition to UO. Also, Sage Arthur is about to begin Case #06 of the Court of Sonoma in which Nystul is being put on trial for his crimes against Britannia. Finally, I hope to add a new newspaper article to the UO Newspaper soon. I am still unsure about the subject, but I hope to continually update the paper. |
| Aug. 20, 2000 - Housing Info Page Completed |
| The housing page is now totally complete except for the pictures of the keep and the castle. These pictures are harder to compile so they will take a while to gather. I hope that you enjoy it! |
| Aug. 19, 2000 - A New Item |
| A new item has been released in UO. It is called a glacial staff and emminates the cold radiance of ice. Little is known about the staff other than the fact that there are two different modes of attack. The first is an all out attack in which the users entire mana is converted into a supremely powerful attack. It is uncertain how powerful this attack actually is. The second attack is a paralysis attack. The paralysis temporarily stuns the opponent. Until these items become more available I won't be able to conduct any research of my own. |
| Aug. 18, 2000 - Major Updates |
|
I have completed some major updates to the guild webpages. I have completely revamped the members page. I have updated the guild description by completely
rewriting all of the information on the page. I am updated the guild status page with a much more comprehensive set of information about the guild. Also, I updated the Events Calendar with the latest events. Finally, I added the preliminary history page. This page is still being worked on
and is definitely not in it's final form.
Currently the UO Sonoma Section is non-functional. I am still completing these pages; however, this will give you a sneak peak at what the pages will involve. I will continue to update pages today. I hope to gather quite a few of the house pictures as well as update the skills information. Also, Emperor Krosis shall be making an announcement in the next few days on the status of his claim to land in the Second Age. |
| Aug. 17, 2000 - Latest Housing Info |
| Once again I went searching for housing spaces. I have located several spaces that are large enough for small houses, unfortunately there are no large spaces available. |
| Aug. 16, 2000 - House Info Update |
| I didn't update too much today. I have continued to work on the housing pages and have nearly input all of the data. I still need to gather pictures of the various designs. |
| Aug. 15, 2000 - House Placement Woes |
|
I must say housing is a commodity that is definitely rare. Today I attempted to place a tower at the location of a collapsing keep. When I got there, over ten people were standing around waiting. When the keep finally did decay another sprang up in its place within a second (Yikes!). Anyway, I guess the search continues. However, I do have some good news to go with the bad news.
I have updated quite a few of my pages. The biggest improvement is to the guild members page. In fact, I will be updating the entire guild section in preparation for the revival of TKI. In addition, I am continuing work on a housing section as well as a section devoted specifically to the Sonoma Shard (TKI's home shard). I have also begun to record the history of the Krosis Imperium. This shall include everything you have always wanted to know (or not) about TKI! So far I am impressed with the pages. I hope that you will be too. |
| Aug. 13, 2000 - Yikes! Finally a status report. |
|
The past month and a half has been a hectic one. For most of July I was on vacation and so I was unable to make any updates to the webpage. I am back now and so I hope that I will be able to get some new pages up real soon. I have been reworking the design for the Sonoma Info pages; however, I have yet to come up with a design that I feel happy with.
Another major setback for the Sonoma shard came following the dismissal of one of Sonoma's ancient seers. Following this, all but two of Sonoma's seers left Ultima is protest. This has caused a ripple effect, destroying the roleplaying community on the Sonoma Shard. This combined with the creation of the Trammel facet has turned UO upside down. There are a few roleplayers remaining and it is my hope that they will be able to pick up the slack and return Sonoma to its past prosperity. On the status of the guild... I have not been recruiting for some time. I am currently attempting to place a large tower. The result of this will be that my two current houses will have to be sold. I have decided that a tower is well worth the trade. Once this is completed I shall once again focus on guild recruitment. I hope to gather guildmates who are interested in the RP community of Sonoma and who want to make a difference. As I mentioned before, there haven't been any site updates; however, I will be updating the calendar to the month of August. One other piece of news I forgot to mention was about an event sponsored by the Krosis Imperium. Last Friday (Aug. 11th), The Krosis Imperium sponsored the Battle of the Bards. The event had a relatively low turnout (around 8 people); however, Elder Dragonfire managed to visit and the contestant's songs were performed excellently. I shall be announcing the winners within the next few days. I'd like to end with some ideas I have about the future of The Krosis Imperium. First I would like to expand the TKI ranks so that they are more influential in the Sonoma Community; however, I am looking for far more than numbers. I am looking for people who have the initiative to make a difference; the people who still have the glimmer in their eye and don't view UO as simply a game, but a whole community. Secondly, I am looking for those people who are creative and hard-working. Finally, I am looking for people who work well independently and as part of a team. I realize that these types of players are very rare, but I feel that this is the only way to ensure that The Krosis Imperium does not have the same fate of many other guilds. Another goal that I have for The Krosis Imperium is to develop some sort of city or community. Right now, I am looking at two possibilities. The first is a land-based city, like many others. The advantages of this are that people can run vendors, attracting traffic. The disadvantage is that this takes many resources as well as people. The second and more realistic idea is to create a sea based community. The ocean is the one untapped resources in Britannia. The downside is that this town will have little to offer in the way of resources (except perhaps fishing). However, the city would be easy to create and could become a roleplaying centerpoint. |
| Jun. 28, 2000 - Changes |
|
Once again I have updated the calendar. I have noticed that the Event Planner hasn't ben used recently so I think that I am
going to delete it and replace it with the other UO Sonoma information that I have wanted to put up. Included will be information about the
Seers of Sonoma, a player biography page, a map page to all of the establishments, and a quest archive/summary page.
I still need to update the following sections: Weapon Info, Armor Info, Bank Info, and Skills Info. Finally, I am going to expand the information section of the site by adding a section on housing. With all of the new designs this should be a valuable resource. |
| Jun. 14, 2000 - The Usual Updates |
|
I have updated the calendar to the month of June. I still need to update the calendar with
the latest events. This month I am going to try something new -- I'm actually going to keep
the calendar updated with the latest events! I am still working on some ideas to enhance the webpage.
First of all, I am going to be updating the UO Sonoma section soon with a biography section. With the closing of
Pander's Biography Site I think that it is in order to open one on my website. Another exciting project is
a tutorial on quest/event design. Both of these projects are just in the planning stages, so don't
expect them too soon. Also be aware that in July I will be going on vacation. I will announce this again
once the date grows closer. There are a few sections that are in need of updates. These section are Weapon Info, Armor Info, Bank Info, and Skills Info. |
| Jun. 9, 2000 - June Update |
|
Well a few more quests have taken place in addition we are reviewing an application for a new member.
I will be updating the site this weekend. |
